The city hall is a doorway, a gateway to the landscape, the river and the hills. As a wedge, the building is inserted between the natural and urban, built to slope and the slope arquitecturiza. The building falls near the Civic Square to the park. Building is proposed as an identifiable and representative of the community and natural environment. It is proposed not to cut the longitudinal paruq the intersection of Avenida Alonso de Córdova, so that the park maintains its natural sense and actively participate with the proposed building. Thus, the park is allowed to flow continuously through the Civic Plaza, which is accessed from the inside at different levels.
The recreation of the atrium as a new courtyard plaza and the grape arbor to a new scale, comprised of large beams, is a reinterpretation of architectural typologies of the central valley of Chile. The atrium is formed as an intermediate access under the grape arbor that unifies the whole. Are valued and the spaces between the grading scales and sieves of light and shadow.
The Civic Plaza building and form a single whole, an esplanade of citizen encounter between the men and the landscape. The atrium of the building extends into the plaza. The exhibits inside the building clear and transparent, and extends in the square court, seeking to appear as a building and for everyone. The architectural expression differences as charges facing the city and hills. Towards the urban, the volume provides controlled access and openings. By the natural environment, it becomes open, transparent and participatory. Inside, free and flexible plants allow great freedom of use.
The name of this building isn’t Banco de Chile, it’s Municipalidad de Vitacura
(Vitacura Goberment Civic Center). By the way, I’m chilean.
